Gorge Sector

The Gorge Sector hangs directly above the Marsyangdi River at an altitude that already taxes the body — the air is noticeably thinner and routes feel harder than their grades suggest. The wall is a 35-metre limestone face of excellent quality, sculpted by the river into dramatically featured relief with horizontal breaks, tufa columns, and solution pockets. The exposure is significant: the river is audible and visible far below, and the gorge walls frame the Annapurna skyline on every route. Wind channels can develop in the afternoon, making morning the preferred climbing window. Technical 6a grades here demand the same fitness as 6c at sea level. This is serious, committing climbing in a spectacular alpine setting.
