Forest Wall

A 10-minute walk deeper into the reserve leads to the Forest Wall — a completely different world from Main Crag. The wall here is overhung at the base and vertical above, shaded by a canopy of old-growth trees that keeps it cool and climbable year-round, even in Nepal's hot pre-monsoon months. The rock is slightly more compact and features dramatic solution pockets that characterise the grades. Climbing here requires confidence — the shaded stone can feel slicker than Main Crag, and the longer routes demand sustained commitment. Local birds nest in crevices at the base and are completely unbothered by climbers. It's one of the most peaceful outdoor climbing venues in the Kathmandu Valley.
